I've been keeping one of my Red Star hens in my house for the last 3 weeks because she had an eye problem and was getting picked on by the other 6 and not allowed to eat. The eye problem has cleared up, although I think she's blind in that eye, and she's eating well again. While she's been inside she's began her molt (I'm assuming) because she's been losing feathers like crazy and hasn't laid an egg since I've separated her, which I assume is normal during a molt? When I let them all out in the afternoon to free-range she tends to stay by herself because if she gets close to the others they begin to pick on her again. I didn't realize that keeping her separated and out of the other's sight was going to be so problematic. I'll be trying some of the tips and pointers I've read here to get her back in the coop and out of my kitchen!
