@knoturavggrl ~ Nyx & Pebble can range from 2.0 to 3 lbs. When they are small a 1/2 lb difference can seem a lot betw bantams.

@featherhead007 Keep in mind whether they are full-blooded game birds or not though too. Isn’t some of that game bird feed 28% protein? That’s pretty high. Although maybe with your steaks and all they have already been getting more protein?

Buckeyes are a “heritage” bird and the Livestock Conservancy recommends 20-22% protein I think. I don’t have them on that yet because I can’t find a medicated starter feed with that much protein. I hesitate to dilute the amprolium with a game bird starter, not having found a game bird starter that’s medicated. What I have is 18% though.

Very informative and I thank you for being so considerate CB. I haven’t purchased the game bird meal yet. I still have a 50lb bag of all flock, that I supplement with safflower and BOS, and lots of Canadian BSL. That’s no BS either.

I have some sad news, sorry to be a downer. Rue took a turn for the worse, by yesterday she was no longer trying to eat or drink. She also seemed to be in quite a bit of pain when she did even small moves. I made the decision to put her down last night. It was very hard as she was so very young but I couldn’t let her be in pain like that.

Poor little Rue. But you did the right thing, and she is at peace. With lots of Fluffy Butt chickens who have left us to keep her company.

I’m sorry I misled you people. I was at Tractor Supply looking into the game bird crumble meal, but I didn’t buy it.

How long have they been on medicated feed? You should wean them off medicated feed as they grow because medicated feed does withhold vitamins from them.

He’s still mad at me. Mr Wyandottey sure can hold a grudge. I tried to explain to him, that straight run means you snuck out of the cull, and grew up with me, a loving guy who is your food supplier.
