A friend of ours is looking to buy a plucker. My DH asked last night if I want to go in 1/2 with him. Ummmm, yeah!
Lucky you! I plan to process my first bird today....

x2Good luck! From my experience, the hardest part was dispatch. Once you get past that, the rest is easy.
Awesome!!!I did it!Processed my first one. And yes....the dispatch was the hardest part. I'm so glad I had a good sharp knife. Plucking took the longest and the insides took a little more wrangling than I expected to get out, but am pretty happy with the end result. It is "aging" in the frisgr right now ans I will do one more tomorrow. The other 2 will be done next week.![]()

I cut the tail off too.
4 more made it to the freezer this morning. It took me 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. (hand plucking) One had a lot of fat around his heart, so I'm sure he wasn't going to live much longer. They are 10 1/2 weeks now, so I cut them in half before freezing. The remaining 7 will be done in the morning. I'm getting quite an assembly line process going, even by myself.
