Seems it would have to have been a wild animal then. Just so strange Kiwi wasn't hurt too.
Pear was always bolder than kiwi.

Great pictures...learning that new camera well. Very handsome roo...what is the breed? Really like the Buff goose and the first picture, the goose on the left with the big belly, that is the sort of belly that my Lydia has. I hope it means she will keep the eggs really warm when the time comes.
The Roo is a Game Bantam he is 5 yrs old and his name is Rufus. [dh named him] that goose on the left with the big belly is my 6 month old Babe.Great pictures...learning that new camera well. Perhaps Rufus looks larger in the picture than he really is? My Sebrights are barely the size of a small dove. He sure is nice looking. Does he get on well with the others? The Roo is a Game Bantam he is 5 yrs old and his name is Rufus. [dh named him] that goose on the left with the big belly is my 6 month old Babe.
Whats funny if you notice they all seem to be leaning a bit to the left, well we hardly ever have anyone walking on the dirt road in front of our home but our neighbors are up from Fl and they were out walking and talking and the birds were kind freaked out about it. lol
He's small it's the zoom. He's larger than a small dove because his mama was full size game daddy was game bantam. but he is still small. And oh yes he is in full charge of everyone but the geese. They don't jump when he jumps at them. lolPerhaps Rufus looks larger in the picture than he really is? My Sebrights are barely the size of a small dove. He sure is nice looking. Well, I just may have to look into getting some game bantams next. He sure is handsome. He's small it's the zoom. I'd love to see some pics of your Sebrights now that they are looking more like chickens and not chicks.![]()
I know it's very hard for me to but thankfully dh does that part. But I didn't let any of my hens sit this past summer because of this very thing, what are we getting too soft in our old age jtn? chickens are for eating, I guess just not ours huh? We use to butcher sometime 6-8 roosters a season. last year we did 3.Well, I just may have to look into getting some game bantams next. He sure is handsome.
I will get some pics of the Sebrights today and post them. They are so cute. I did end up with three too many golden roos so have been trying to find them a home. I did the rehoming on BYC, adds in several papers around here as well as CraigsList several days ago and have not had even one inquiry. So, I may need to start a small bantam bachelor pen like I have for the bigger packing peanuts I got. I was planning on doing the whole butcher and eat thing with the big boys but they have started to be cute and act like they are depending on me and that sort of blows the who "off with their heads" thing. Oh well, best laid plans.

My hens fly...I guess you could call it flying. They sort of get a good run started, flap their wings and lift off...looks sort of like a feather covered blimp with a beak comming right at you. I don't know whether to duck or laugh and get hit by a flying bird.I know it's very hard for me to but thankfully dh does that part. Rufus has such an awesome personality I really would like a roo from him and hopefully get the same disposition. I picked him out of the 6 because he was the one hanging with the girls while the rest were beating each other up. at 16 weeks old. And those game can really take care of themselves in our terrain him and his girl go over the fence into the woods to forage and fly right back over they are excellent flyers. my other hens are too heavy to fly over I have to let them out when I can be out with them .
