Hello! My family and I built our dream chicken coop and run, which took about 6 months of weekends. It’s the biggest thing we’ve built, and we learned a lot. I wanted to share progress photos! You might notice I did my level best to copy parts of the Carolina coop. :)

Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out, but since my hens cannot free range, it would have been nice if I could have made the run bigger. The hen house also ended up being way higher up than I intended… probably due to sloping ground… oops. Some stats: elevated henhouse is 10’x4’, run is 10x15. Solid roof (I prioritized shade because our summers are so hot). Coop bedding of hemp and wood shavings, run floor of deep bark.

There it is! That is simply gorgeous!!! I hope you put it in the Coops section! Only thing I might suggest, I can't tell how far from the wall the roost bar is. Chicken poo on walls is a horrible thing.... It may be far enough out, not sure. And overall I can see why you feel accomplished. Excellent job! :clap
:thumbsup
Thank you!! I’ll look for the Coop section, too. Those brackets are about 14” off the wall… no big poops on wall so far, but I’ll watch for that!

Welcome to BYC. Where, in general, are you? Climate matters. :)

That coop looks well-made and well-thought out. An attractive addition to your yard.

One detail though,

Those little round vents at the roof peak aren't going more much air, only a few square inches. When venting a coop you need to think in terms of square feet.

Here's my article on coop ventilation: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/repecka-illustrates-coop-ventilation.77659/
