He is very alert and moving. Peeping even.No problem. I forget as well sometimes. The call duck hatchers are usually the ones I think of for hatching, since they commonly need to perform assisted hatching.
But I sadly think @ruthhope is correct. It doesn't look good for the little guy.
Glad to see it’s looking much better! Is the duckling active? Does it have mom/siblings?
I think you could safely clip some of that off, at least the part that looks dried up. I would be afraid of it getting caught on something, and pulling it, before it’s totally healed up. And the more that is hanging out, the slower it will dry up.
I just posted a picture. He still has that thing dangling and when I feed him he took a few bites and drank a bit of water. He's 3 days old.Has he been eating, drinking and pooping? How's his vent?
