We have a young pekin. She has what I believe is a prolapsed vent. She also had somewhat of hard poop inside that we could see. We soaked her in our bath tub a couple days ago and let he play. This softened the poop and we were able to gently work it out in chunks. We did this for the next day as well. We really dont feel anymore poop in there but the part of her vent that is sticking out has like a white crust on it (see picture) we are keeping it moist with vaseline and have her alone in a broader. I read that you can push the vent back in but we have gently pushed on it and it doesn't seem like it wants to go in. We are pushing really really gently and dont want to hurt her. My wife loves her ducks and I really do not want to cull her because I like them as well and treat them as pets. Any help at all would be very much appreciated. We have never seen this or dealt with this before. In the picture, the whitish stuff looks like poop but it isn't, this is part of the inside of the vent.

Have you tried letting her soak in nice warm water and then slathering Vaseline on it an trying to push it back inside? What some say may work is using Prep H or honey.

A vet is also something you may think about they could get it in an put a few stictchs to hold it in.

You could also try adding some Epsom salt to the soaking water just don't let her drink it is also a laxative.

Yes, we have put Epsom salt in the warm water. Also, I forgot to mention we are feeding her very very lightly. She gets some meal worms in her bath. I read to limit her food so that she doesn't produce an egg for obvious reasons. We always check on her and haven't noticed her pooping, other than some little chunks that work thier way out.

That I cannot say I haven't had to deal with one.

But I'd think you'd have to exert a little force just use your own judgement.

I am going to tag some members I can think of that have had this problem with their ducks @Amiga

Not sure maybe @Ravynscroft

And possibly @casportpony

That is how we tag someone that maybe able to pass on information. You hit @ and then type their BYC name next to it and it will show up in blue and we get the tag on our alerts over to the right of your page unless your on a smart phone then I have no idea.

We felt around and dont think we feel an egg. What can we do? It doesn't look any better. She isn't eating any meal worms and is not drinking much other than a little bath water
