serama-sur-ah-mah. and it is debatable for the plural whether or not an 's' should be added to the end. (also the pronunciation of the name is debated.)
in the end, dang it, they are all just chickens! i am really not a chicken prude! but sometimes i get all wiggity-whack when i hear or see Orphingtons. are they like Little Orphington Annie and have no mother or father? I DON'T KNOW!
but, if we are raising something and especially if we are BREEDING something we should try to be as knowledgeable as we can about it. i am certainly no genius, but i am learning as i go.
I knew you could provide the answer.
My pet peeve is that here, in the South, all black & white chickens are called "Dominiques" (or Domineckers
) when they are actually anything but Dominiques. I've answered ads three times and they assured me the chickens were true Doms, but when I got there I would find Barred Rocks.
No offense to the Barred Rocks out there, just not what I am looking for.
