You are seriously underestimating your chicken painting abilities! That's really cool....very nice! Thinking about visiting California this summer? Be sure to pack the paints with you, you never know when you might, ahem, need them.
That is so beautifull !! I have curtains with Roosters on them but nothing as nice as what you painted.
My DH asked me if I was trying to hit him over the head with the hint of wanting chickens...lol. I told him no of course not .....bad wife, bad wife no cookie for that whopping lie!
Well, I am hooked. I just painted chickens on the wall in my kitchen.
I know what you mean. I never understood why people would decorate with roosters and/or chickens. Nothing against them. I thought it was their thing, not mine. I just didn't get it. I can't tell you how many times I have thought about having a rooster or a hen sprinkled in with my kitchen decor, since I have bought these babies and been on this website.
LOL....well, my husband's grandfather does live in California.
I actually have the chickie curtains too, just in the dining area.
I figured I better not go into overkill so I made the gingham check ones for this window. LOL Hey, if your husband can actuallly get a hint, you are doing GREAT!!! Mine never gets anything unless I just come out and say it.....so frustrating!!! My husband hasn't actually seen any of my kitchen's big change.....he is military and hasn't been home since December (not in Iraq, just stationed in the wrong place). Will be here for the 4th of July, however. He is gonna think I have gone insane!!! LOL
Hey, that's it, I can start painting funky folksie chickens on people's walls!!!! LOL
I painted one on my nest box and a coop sign prior to this, but that's it.
We are so vulnerable to chickens' feathery charms.
One morning, cereal bowl in hand, I came inside from turning everyone out to free-range for the day and announced abashedly to my husband, "I've stooped to the lowest low. I just shared my breakfast with a chicken."
"Oh, good," my husband breathed in relief. Tough cowboy that he is, he usually projected cool reserve in response to reports of my absurd and extreme fussings over our chickens. But this time he said, "Now I can tell you. I wasn't going to tell you because I knew you'd be mad..." and he proceeded to confess, "I took some of those [Editor's note: *expensive*] Goldfish crackers from the kitchen to feed to our blue Ameraucana chickens--You know how I like to watch them. They have such cute little 'bloomers' [translation: fluffy leg feathers]. Well, I sprinkled some on a board for them..." He told how he watched with delight while the chickens inspected the delicacies and then scarfed them down.
I grinned in triumph at the 6'3" self-identified victim, and pronounced, "Wrapped around the little claw! Wrapped around the little claw!"
SpeckledHills, your husband sounds like a keeper! And hey, at least I'm not the only one sharing my breakfast with the ladies (and my buckling. He actually expects cereal or something when I let him out of the barn!)
luvmychicknkids, I looove the chicken paintings! So cute with the little biddies. Especially with the red gingham curtains. Hmm... I have a big blank wall in my dining room. Care to come to SC?
