Prospect thread for a possible resale horse -done

I'd be wary about going solely on color for number four. Typically, the horses I've seen at that age with that coloring whiten with age. In a couple of years, he may be completely white.

I can't say I'm overly crazy about any of them, but the pictures are pretty terrible! Number 1 looks like more of an english type horse and would probably be the most popular for 4-Hers where I live. He is "cute", but bay is a pretty common color.

If it were me, I'd probably keep looking or have her send me some better photos! I would not drive 2 hours to see any of those babies when you can get something much better for the same price. $500 can get you a lot of horse these days!

1,4,5 would be my picks,,that being said I am not a fan of apps,,but some people love them..I do tho really like the looks of 5,,he looks like he could be a pretty fancy ride get him cleaned up and in good muscle.

So got updated info on the Dun/buckskin, he is going to be 2 in late summer/early fall, so that is a no go.

The new horse added is a red roan appy gelding that apparently only females can ride..
I think he is a no, right OFF the bat, I have a male friend that could knock some sense into him, but I don't think he
could ever be a 4H candidate or show horse candidate... grrrr
WHY would I even consider this horse, why would you even post this horse, or email me about him.
AND no they didn't mention that until AFTER I had emailed asking for a pic and more info...

Grrrr

Cute horse, but his ears look a bit long for some reason

Just because the horse bit ONE male does not mean that it will bite ALL males. Some people. Also, if the "wrong" female came around, she might get bit too.

No point in getting mad when what you're looking for is impossible.

There is no such thing as getting a man to knock some sense into a horse with a problem among ethical horse people, and there is no such thing as a horse that can only be ridden by men. It's just a horse that can't be ridden. The world abounds with horses that 'can't be ridden in the wind', 'can't be ridden around other horses', 'can't be ridden alone', 'can't be ridden at a show'. They just ain't broke, that's all. Somebody did a half*** job and/or messed the horse up, that's all there is to it.

There is no such thing as a good prospect for resale that was given improper nutrition, is stunted, and poorly bred and built in the first place.

There are thousands and thousands of people in this country who have raised and bred horses irresponsibly, horses that should never have been bred, in facilities that aren't properly set up with enough room for what they have, and without the knowledge to market and train and sell their animals in a decent way. Now they've buttered their bread and now in this economy they are in very bad shape.

And that makes them even more prone to BS than they ever were before, which was already a lot, even before the economy went into Slow Gear.

They, like you, thought the'd make some money on horses, but they didn't know how to do it - but even experts with decades of experience are getting killed in this market.

Sure, but you're kidding yourself if you think the two issues aren't very, related.

We're in the middle of a whole new ballgame here. There are loose horses wandering around the streets of Los Angeles, that people have dumped.

The horse market has never been like this before except for one time - during the Great Depression. Even then, it was different. Those were mostly farm horses. These are pet horses, recreational horses. These animals are very, very optional.

And all the horses you posted, they all have issues. It is very, very hard today to home horses like that even if you GIVE them away.

It would be very, very hard today, to do like you used to do.

Too, keep in mind that you've changed the game quite a bit here. You broke those horses to ride, you're not talking about doing that with this one. You're talking about doing halter work with it. That's another thing that's different and makes this project harder to succeed than the ones you did in the past.

There is a very, very good reason you aren't getting a lot of sunshine and flowers from folks like me on this project. And I ain't the only one. Ole Pat, God bless her, is right up there too.

You're gonna do what you're gonna do, and I know that, but you can't really slap people down or bar them from trying to talk you some common sense. This is a very bad time for a project like this.
