Protecting Chickens In Cold Weather

We fight moisture with our insulated/vented/heated coop in WI. We found using horse bedding pellets and a DYI nipple bucket keeps the humidity down and less mess and maintenance.

I do nothing fancy with my birds in the winter. Frostbite is rare here.

I did do something new with one of the coops of ours that has a dirt floor though. I dug a pit, & filled it with pine shavings, straw, leaves, & pine needles. Made a natural heater. Warmest coop we have now.
I flip the litter every 2, or so weeks.
