Proud Mama of a new puppy! New Pics added weekly :-)

Sammy's got quite the nose on him already- we're thinking from his mama (Beagle type)...we'll hide and call him and he's finding us already. We'll start hiding his favorite tennis ball and rope soon too...maybe his Kongs too just to get him thinking and using the nose for good things...

That Ruby is a stunning pup! What a beautiful face she has!
Awww...

With Chessie we never tried to train him.. i was just asking him where "daddy" went cause I had no clue where he had wandered off to. Next thing I knew Chess was at the door wanting to go out.. and since we weren't home I put his leash on him out of habit..

Sammy's 13 lbs today...not sure how normal 1lb/week weight gain is...it all depends on when he ate and went potty too I think.
Another question: He seems to only want to lick his Kong toys to get the PB/food out, not chew on them...I've got the tiny puppy one, and the medium puppy one, along with a medium Squirrel Dude, he loves trying to fish the food out with his tongue, but doesn't chew on them at all, which is what I thought they were supposed to promote: Constructive, rewarding chewing. Anyone else use these or have similar experience?

I use the softer nylabone.. mine seem to like chewing on it better than on the Kong..
I'm not sure why, but my lab mix Chessie was the only Kong fan out of all my dogs.

The new pup LOVES all toys.. will chew on them over chewing on anything else (thank goodness)

the one thing he LOVES chewing on that I agree with is a pig hoof. My older dog Alex loves them and Sammy ends up taking Alex's into his crate...so I gave them each their own. He also loves chewing on my Ugg slippers (the fuzzy part) and the hand knit afghan my mom knit me 35 yrs ago. so he's learning "Leave it" pretty quickly and gets plenty of Kongs, ropes, tennis balls, hooves, squeaky toys, etc.
I just plugged his birth date and present weight into a weight calculator and it's saying he'll be 71-73 lbs as an adult. We'll see...

At one pound a week, 70-75 lbs sounds about right. Dudley was gaining about 1.5, sometimes 2 lbs a week and the vet predicted him to be in the 80-90 lb range

wowwww! I'll love whatever he is- he's so sweet when he's being a cute puppy. His nose makes him somewhat stubborn right now- so we're trying to have silly fun with him when he gets so single minded smelling something. For such a young pup, I'm surprised to see one with such a strong nose and interest in whatever he HAS to dig out once he smells it.

Sammy, 11 weeks old tomorrow- 14 lbs this am... loves the snow! He runs in it, buries his nose in it, tries to roll chunks of it out (to make a snowman???) and is such a hoot out in it. Glad we only got 5-6" and not 3 feet of it- he'd be lost!

This next one is taken when he was sitting in my daughter's new chair...not sure he likes it from the look on his face. Maybe? she took this pic yesterday.
