Hi, it’s me again. Lol
I finally found a female duck for my drake, took her home 1 week ago ago and put them in their coop outside for the first night last night... it was quite cold (-1C) but they had a nice dry bedding with hay.
This morning I noticed that the girl had a puffed up cheek (see picture) and made weird noise when breathing.
After reading online I gave them some water and vinegar and water and camomile as an anti inflammatory and after a warm bath she’s not making noise when breathing. I thought it could be a sinus infection but I didn’t see any mucus coming out of her nose, the cheek is not hard, seems like there is just some air and she doesn’t seems in pain as when I touch it she’s calm.
Any advice/help on what to do? I’m really worried :(

If it’s just inflammation from hitting it on something, it will probably be fine. But if it’s infected she could need treatment. Are there any scabs you can see, if so is the skin raised or red around the scab?

Did you check inside her cheek to see if food could be in there or something else. Do they have a bucket or bowl deep enough to dunk their whole heads in they need water always especially when eating.

Thank you for all your answers, her appetite wasn’t the best last night, after reading a lot online I kept a deep enough container for her to dip her head in and spoke with a friend which said to give her some amoxicillin as we don’t have vet for poultry in the area to prescribe Baytril... I gave her a first dose last night and this morning the cheek seems gone down a bit... I’ll keep going for 3/4 and hope it’s nothing worse :)
