Puffy eyed peafowl.

I'm not sure if you have already operated on your girl, but there are very detailed instructions and pictures on Yoda's thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/504944/swollen-side-of-face-cyst-surgery Here are some of the pictures from the thread (these are Yoda's pictures, I hope you don't mind Yoda): After cutting open - still needed to cut through a layer of tissue to remove cyst: The incision after removal of the cyst: What the cyst looked like after removal: This might help you get an idea about the size of the incision you may need to make, and what you might find in there. It sounds like you might not have anything as large as the cyst pictured. Let us know how it goes.
This is also very helpful.

When it doesn't come out in one lump, I poke around since it seems like there are lots of places for the pus to hide:

It did not go well at all today! She kept jerking her head away and trying to move! So after many failed attempts ill just have to wait a day or two. She's just not wanting to cooperate. I did get my baytril in and gave her 1cc. Poor girl :(

So sorry that you had trouble with your girl today.

Keep us posted about your progress and hopefully someone here can give you more advice as you need it.

Baytril works fast, so if you got all of the pus and it's an infection that Baytril works for , you'll see improvement very quickly.

I would say no, but I've only had peafowl for four years. In that time, I have only seen the one at the feed store with the sinus infection. The feed store has about 25 peafowl and I now have 16, so it's not a very large number to compare against. The feed store also has turkeys (40), chickens (hundreds) and Guineas (20) and this year about 15 of their turkeys had sinus problems and they get quite a few chickens and chicks each year with swollen eyes, but they buy and sell thousands of chicks/chickens.

Maybe someone with lots of peas will have a better answer.

FWIW, if one of mine does get a sinus infection, I will probably send samples off to the lab so I know what I'm dealing with.
