Puffy eyed peafowl.

Good to know. I don't have any. But I ordered some baytril which should be delivered by the middle of the week. Once it arrives I should inject .5 cc into the bump under her eye?

The dose you give your girl will depend on the strength of the Baytril you ordered.
I don't really know about this so hopefully someone else will help you (those charts are a bit confusing!).

I do see that on the recent "Buying Baytril" thread, on the label of the imported 100 mg/ml Baytril it says:
3 ml/40 kg (7.5 mg/kg).
Your girl is probably between 3 and 4 kg? That should give you a ballpark if that's the strength of Baytril you ordered (in other words, .5cc might be too much).

But: Casportpony is the dosing expert here!

You need to finish what you started. The pieces you removed are a solid. You need to make the cut larger and remove the entire mass. Injecting baytril into the mass will not work. It is past the infection stage and hardening. If you do not remove the mass it will start on the other side of the birds face. You will make an incision under the entire lump. and gently squeeze it out. If you do it correctly you will get it out in one piece including the part inside the nasal cavity. I rinsed out the cut with saline solution and gave the bird the shot of baytril. Give the bird a 2cc/ml injection of baytril.

Sorry new2peafowl but we have been using baytril long before casport came here and never had a dosing problem yet. So I do not understand why you will label that person a dosing expert?

X2. Here is a picture that shows the larger pieces that might be in there.

So you mean to say that *everyone* here gives their adult peafowl 200mg of baytril? That's what you give, right? 2cc's is what you have written a couple of times.

Thanks for your support, but I am by no means an expert, just someone who is really anal about using drugs correctly. I have lots more to say about all this, but have some stuff I have to do now, so it will have to wait.

Actually no they told me 3cc but I give 2cc. That is it no more. You give your bird how many shots? Mine get one (1) shot that's it. They do not need to be chased and recaught and injected again. That only adds stress to the bird and the bird can end up dying from stress. So yes I give my bird a 2 cc shot and he is done. Never had any issues or problems. Look at my thread and read page 9. I gave the bird a 2cc shot and that was it and look at the before and after pictures. I am not going to fight with my bird and try to get him to stay still to weigh him and then have to pull out my calculator to find a dose that I will have to do for the next 10 days. I give them one shot and that's it. Deerman told me how to do it and it works for me. It will take a large amount to over dose with baytril.
