Puffy/Swollen Eye

I looked up in the chicken health handbook and it could be one of several things--maybe infectious bronchitis. I would say wait a little on the antibiotics if she is not wheezing, coughing, mucous drainage, etc., but keep the antibiotic on hand in case of a secondary infection. I researched a saline solution (homemade) and someone said to boil one teaspoon of salt with a cup of water, then let it cool and wash the eye with it. Make sure that she is in a warm place, and has electrolytes. I researched, and a homemade electrolyte solution can be made of :
1/3 teaspoon potassium chloride (salt substitute)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon table salt
2 quarts of water

I would say give the neo poly dex ointment a try. I looked it up and its active ingredients are Neomycin and Polymyxin, both of which are safe for chickens.

Yeah my cat has a virus called herpes that she got as a kitten living outside before i got her and she is now a carrier for life this medication really cleared up her eyes she had alot of white mucus secresions

Thank you so much! Ill make the electrolytes! As for a eye wash I do have Clear eyes Maximum Redness relief what about that?
Great! The electrolytes will help her. I think the Clear eyes solution's active ingredients have nothing to do with clearing the infection, just with making an eye less red. Try making the saline eye wash solution too. Also, if you do have a vet nearby you can call perhaps tomorrow. I don't think the hen is in immediate danger tonight. But since you've had the respiratory infections in your flock, keep a very close eye on her and look for things like drainage out of the nose, cheesy stuff in the mouth, wheezing, etc.

Okay Im worried about the sollution is that it will burn her eye cause of the salt. I touched the swelling and it is soft kinda like its filled with fluid? Idk. Sadly our vet dosnt deal with birds but i will call tomorrow and ask anyways!
