Hi everyone, We bought 5 chicks from TSC and said they were all female. I know this is not always accurate, however, really want this to be a Pullet. They are 13 weeks old. I am assuming they are Americauna EE. Just hoping the reddish one with the comb is a different breed! We don't notice any difference in the legs/feet, and the feathers seem to be uniform like the others despite the dark splotches.

Thanks everyone! Now to decide what to do with said cockerel! Keep or find a good home for him! :bow I told my husband that I want to keep him if he is indeed a he.....but not sure we are ready to go that route yet!:idunno

You're more than welcome! :)

If there any concerns about rooster-keeping you wish to discuss, we're always here to assist as much as possible. :D

Just that I heard that they are more aggressive and we are so new to the Chicken World! Can you have a Rooster in with your girls if you do not wish to raise baby chicks?

Yes, but you need a high ratio of hens to roos, so the hens don't get too beat up from the mating. I have 24 chickens, 3 of which are 7 1/2 month old cockerels. The boys have shown zero aggression as of yet. My husband and I spend a lot of time with the chickens, and everyone is in a huge coop with huge run. We collect the eggs several times a day, and there's no way to tell which eggs are fertilized. It can work!!! Blessings!
