I am really upset. I posted a pic of my Black Australorp a few days ago. Everyone who replied told me it was indeed a roo. Well, today I noticed my barred plymouth rocks comb looks way bigger! So please tell me what you think.
The Australorp is on the left & the Barred Rock is on the right. They will be 5 weeks on Monday.

I'm a newbie so I can't give an answer, but you should put this question and picture in the.... "breed and gender" section of this site. Someone with a lot of knowledge will answer.

Yeah, I`ve been wrong before, but I don`t think so this time. Not only do roosters show larger combs, but they color up in the face by 8 weeks in most breeds. Pullets will have no pink in their faces until just befor laying age. Sorry......Pop

We had two barred rock chicks this spring and based on the differences between them at about 8 weeks, I was SURE we had a rooster...but they were both girls. One just developed on a little different timeline than the other.

That BA is a roo, though.
