With a tail down this makes me think of some kind of reproductive issue. I'm not sure experienced here, so might now be able to diagnose for you. If it is a reproductive issue, you'll want to get calcium in her ASAP. Calcium Citrate is best, but if you don't have that then 1/2 a Tums will do. This will help her expel any egg material.I'd also like to add...her tail is pointed down. She's a Silver laced Hamburg so she holds her tail up high usually. I there anyone who has any other suggestions.
He was shocked at how bad her poo was. He talked about Salmonella, and if she had this she likely wouldn't make it. What is the other thing besides salmonella she could have gotten. If she was sick with Salmonella my whole flock would be sick and they are fine,@Wyorp Rock @azygous @Eggcessive
Did the vet say what is wrong with her exactly? Is it internal laying? I know that can require antibiotics. I tagged some more experienced members. Hopefully you can get help soon!
I did this last night, It was all pasty again.... Another reason to trim off poopy feathers under the vent, instead of washing!
Aww, I see. This is in the behaviors section. In the begging it was about behavior. I'm going to ask a mod that this be moved to the ER forum. If there is a better forum to share this in please feel free to share or post.
He said she is very sick and only weighs 2.4 lbs.
Did the vet run any diagnostics to test for Salmonella, worms, etc.?He was shocked at how bad her poo was. He talked about Salmonella, and if she had this she likely wouldn't make it.
