Pullet wiping off face

They are LADIES after all! Mine always cross their legs when sitting and lift their pinkies when drinking afternoon tea as well.

Thanks for the answers! I'll have to watch the others to catch them doing it.

Yesterday my 7 week old SLW clearly had some unidentified object on her beak. So she jumps on my lap, looks for a bare spot on my arm and whips her beak on me. Gee thanks Kate!

All my chickens adore peanut butter, and they all clean their beaks after eating something like yogurt or tuna. If you want to watch something hilarious, give them peanut butter, and watch them try to wipe it off their beaks! They're torn between wanting to clean their beaks and being irresistibly drawn to come back for more peanut butter!

I was so glad to find this thread. I was wondering if something was wrong. I'd never heard of chickens washing their faces. LOL. All 4 of mine (different breeds) do it. They are really cute. I'll keep an eye out for the hankies.

My hens all wipe their beaks from time to time--some more than others.. I also have a hen who helps the others clean their beaks and feathers around it.. She gently takes all the 'extra' off , working her way all the way around the face/beak area and then she will wipe her own beak...SUCH a good friend..LOL
