Pullets or Cockerels?! Cochin and Marans

Very pretty birds you have, your BCM is an iffy to me just yet, also.
Comb size should be much bigger but could also be just a late bloomer male.

Just checking in with a little update. My 3 chicks are now 10 weeks old. The Cochin and Splash Marans still are looking like pullets. The BCM’s comb is starting to get more red, but it has not grown much in the past 2 weeks. So maybe it is a pullet after all? Thanks for any input and thoughts anyone can provide on this.

I also have a second pair of chicks I am hoping are finally old enough to get input on their gender. They were also purchased from MyPetChicken, and were sexed as females. They are 8 weeks old.

5. Black Copper Marans


The 8 week BCM also does not have a significant comb, but is almost the same size as the 10 week BCM. So perhaps cockerel?

The Lavender Ameraucana is super sweet, and looks like a pullet to me.

I have a hard time with the Ameracaunas/ EEs comb so wait for others on that, but Im guessing it's a pullet as well as everyone else. I don't see any cockerels standing out to me.

I have copper marans, the roo I had was getting the copper flecks all along his wings and back by that age. I think you’d also see red wattles by the 8 week mark and definitely by 10 weeks! I think you are in the clear! Those tail feathers also look nicely rounded, looks like hen feathers to me!
