Pump for Duck Pond

I would love to see them!
Had to give up my pond.....I miss it.

There was a thread on it about a month ago. In the Spring I am doing something similar to a pond. The pond pump is for 1200 gallons and there will be about 450 gallons of water, so I'm hoping that getting the bigger pump works in my favor.

Toss a link my way if you run across it.

Matching pump to pond volume is important, but filtration set up and material needs to match too. Getting the poop off the bottom of pond without grinding it up is a real challenge. The finer the grind the finer the mechanical filtration material needs to be and the more often it clogs and then needs to be cleaned. You can spend more time cleaning the filters so they work that you would just emptying and refilled the pond. Oh, I could go on and on.....fascinating stuff. Think there's pic on my albums here of my basic setup.

The bigger mess with my ducks is them digging around in the mud then dunking in the pool. I had a nice amount of rock out there and it's like its gone. I spent last night raking up rock to build the area back. They love their puddles that is for sure. The poop in the pool has been no where as bad as the mud. So I was going for something that doesn't have as easy access for them to dunk(they do have a bucket for that) I'm hoping that minus the mud it might work okay. I thought about putting rocks in the bottom then I thought oh no that will just catch everything and make a bigger mess. I'm kind of using my 125 gallon fish tank as a guide to keeping it clean

Do you mean mechanical filter? That's what gets the solids out of the water column.....but...

You could watch your electric meter to see how much KWH it takes to fill it up. Note the numbers, fill pond, note the numbers again...then figure your rate per KWH and do the math, then you'll know.
How many gallons is the preform?
Thank you, I will do that.

So which pump are you getting?
