I'll watch her carefully and monitor her fluids. We keep trying different foods to get her to eat. Last night she just wanted to lay with her head on my lap or lay in my lap. Tonight she gets up and moves away every thime I get near her - she doesn't want to be fooled with at all.

By the way, from everything I've read, Parvo can affect their hearts and cause heart failure or damage - which may be what happened in your dog's case. I'm so sorry.

Yes, our dog had been given a parvo injection about 3 days prior to becoming ill.

I heard that too. I thought there might be several strains out there or the vaccine was stored wrong and didnt work no more.

So where would I buy Nutri-Cal? This is a one intersection, no stop light town. One grocery story and a couple of feed stores - all of which will be closed for Easter. Is that something that would be sold at Wal-Mart in the pet section? There is a Wal-Mart about an hour away - not sure they will be open on Easter Day though.

Why is it they (pets and kids) always get sick late at night on a holiday?

I completely understand about the holiday sicknesses--Our 2yo daughter who has never been sick, had a fever, or been to the dr for a sick visit, began running a temp of 104.6 last night. The ped saw us today (wonderful woman) and babe was tested and diagnosed with the 'flu. She's been banned from any interaction with anyone--yep, that means no family egg hunt for her. Poor dear. She's just miserable. It's Murphy's law. I hope your pup makes it through, we'll say a prayer for her.

Would some caro syrup or corn syrup work until you can get a hold of hi-cal? I got mine way back then from the vet.

I work for a vet, and the "foul smell" almost gives parvo away..now it could turn out to be something else, bit if it was my pup it would be at the emergency clinic. Most of the pups we get in that the owners feel they can treat almost end in a bad situation. I would get the pup to the vet ASAP!!!

Parvo is VERY contagious, and very harsh on a pup. EVERYTHING in your house will have to be disinfected with bleach. Please please get this pup some help...hope for the best, that its not parvo, but treat for the worst!

Well I just crawled under the house, in the dead of night, to get her out. She wouldn't come out. So I had to crawl under there and haul her out. Anyone ever crawled through dirt, under a house, after midnight, while hauling out a 25 pound dead-weight dog? No one can say I don't love my pets.

I had put her outside a bit ago since she was having the diarrhea all over the house and she went under the house and wouldn't come out. Like I said, she really wants me to leave her alone but I'm thinking I now need to stay up all night with her and force liquid down her throat. Earlier she would drink a little but not eat, now she won't drink.

It's going to be a long night. I have a saying around here "No one dies on my watch".

She needed to talk to my DH since he's a chemist and mathematician about Sulmet and its ingredients and had him calculate the dosage.
