How is this going to, "force the backyard farmer out of keeping live stock"?

poultry feed to.

I don't know one big poultry fanciest that uses Purina feed. In fact the breeders (poultry and other livestock) that I know stay far away from Purina feed.

What do you recommend Chris? I would love to move to a product that had less corn and more animal products.

My feedstore - they are good people - and will try to get in whatever I think I need.

What brands can your Mill get in?

To me its not that the Soybean is in the feed that I am worried about, but more the amount of soy being used in the feed.
I refuse to use a feed that is all plant based protein, my feed has to have animal protein in it and my birds do better with a mixture of both plant and animal proteins.

That is the hard part, we do not have a mill

Middle of the desert - 7 inches of rainfall a year, those who have water rights - they grow alfalfa or grass hay.

My feedstore can and will order bagged feed or bagged whole grain - but most all whole grain comes from out of state (CA usually). Although the pelleted FR has to come from Purina's Denver, CO plant - not their Turlock, CA plant that is close to us

Currently my choices for pelleted feed are Purina or Farmer's Best. And my choices in Farmer's Best are limited to layer 18% and their all flock feed of 20% and both have high calcium and I have quite a few roosters who I do not want/need that extra calcium being forced into. Plus my birds prefer to go hungry than eat the Farmers Best - sad but true - it will sit in the feeder.

Out here prices range from $14-20 bucks depends on the town and store. I drive at least 25 minutes to get to a different town for cheaper but good quality feed such as the Purina Omega 3
