Purina Organic feed?

If you ever have a question about the authenticity of an organic product, start asking questions. Are you certified organic? Who is your certifying agency? Can I see your certificate? A producer will have an organic certificate stating which organic products they are certified to produce. A food or feed processor will have a certificate saying that they are certified processors.

Under USDA rules if you gross under $5000 per year from your products then you may sell your products as "organic" but not "USDA Certified Organic". Under this rule you take your chances that the seller actually knows and follows the U.S. regulations. I've been leery after having conversations with folks selling "organic" products at farmers' markets. Some may know exactly what they are talking about, others may just have a "natural" product that they feel meets their own standards. You take your chances there.

If you are buying large lots of organic produce, grain, or what have you for resale, you can request a Transaction Certificate from the producer. The producer will fill out a request form and send it to their certifying agency. The certifying agency will then send you a TC that states they certify the lot was organically produced. This gives you a document that you can provide to future buyers stating that the product is organic, although you didn't actually produce it. Otherwise they are just taking your word for it as a reseller.

unfortunately, the word "organics" is like dropping meat into a shark tank. there are lots of people on here with really good information and they are generally very helpful, but there are some who would much rather start a fight.

as the others have said, your organic feed should be great as long as it is the correct blend for their age group.

The Mother Earth News Fair would like to cordially invite you to a Brunch, sponsored by Purina, Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. in the VIP lounge at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton, TX.
Inspired by the philosophy of “wiser living,” Purina has developed a brand-new line of organic poultry feed that contains no GMOs or antibiotics.
