Looks normal to me. Roosters with larger combs can have that happen sometimes. As long as he isn't acting sick, I would bet he is just fine!Any idea why this guy’s comb would be turning purple off and on? Not cold enough for frost bite. Seems normal otherwise. I don’t think it’s an injury.

How does one feed hens and roosters separately?Don't let him eat the layer feed. He needs 20% protein feed or higher.
Just feed them all All Flock, and put out oyster shell in a separate container. The layers will nibble the OS, those who aren't might taste it, but will leave it alone. How does one feed hens and roosters separately?
Not true. Roosters do NOT need 20% or higher.Don't let him eat the layer feed. He needs 20% protein feed or higher.
I have several feeders, 2 containers have 20% feed, my main container has layer and 22% feed mixed in. Plus I leave oyster shells out if there's not enough layer feed in the mix container. How does one feed hens and roosters separately?
Agreed. Males will eat some OS from time to time as they still need calcium, just not as much. This ^ is the best way to roll. I have a flock of 23 and there are chicks, cockerels, pullets, hens, and a rooster.Just feed them all All Flock, and put out oyster shell in a separate container. I’ve yet to come across any all flock feed at any of the feed stores.Just feed them all All Flock, and put out oyster shell in a separate container. The layers will nibble the OS, those who aren't might taste it, but will leave it alone.
Grower/starter is basically the same.I’ve yet to come across any all flock feed at any of the feed stores.
