Purple comb on rooster.

Any idea why this guy’s comb would be turning purple off and on? Not cold enough for frost bite. Seems normal otherwise. I don’t think it’s an injury.

Completely normal. I’ve had him since August, he is a late bloomer compared to his “brother”. He has only recently started crowing and dancing for the hens. Could hormones do this?

Just regular layer mix free choice. Garden greens occasionally and wheat scratch

Hormones won't turn his comb purple, just brighter red.

Don't let him eat the layer feed. He needs 20% protein feed or higher.
