purple eggs???

Pics
lol Usually if I toss them one of those little pints of blackberries, the next day I get at least one egg with purple/lavender freckles on it! I have also noticed large quantites of live mealworms will affect the color of the egg shells too. It tends to make them richer in color.

Well I failed on my first attempt at meal worm farming, but I have my tubs ready to stock again. I had them ready for a month. LOL Wonder if they help with purple? Guess I'll find out.

BTW....I didn't start off with Marans eggs. I breed Marans roos to hens I thought would produce pink. I have pink EE hens too, so between those I worked at getting a dark pink without it looking brown. Add the blue and you get lavender.

Chicks are hatching and the first one is one of my purple egg projects. Obviously a roo. I'm hoping I get more laying later. I have another ullet laying a gray egg, so hoping those are going to start turning lavender too. Darn blury phone!

System is moving slow.

Sorry..that wasthe only way I could get the system to move was to type something.....

Carry on.....................................................................................................................................

Even more hopefully I can get my hands on some purple eggers!

I think I know who that is. I have been talking to her about buying some eggs. Have you seen the pictures yet? It seems as though her purple shade is coming from the bloom, not the actual shell. Purple bloom is not that uncommon, but her chickens seem to lay with it regularly. I haven't decided on if I should get some of hers or not, please let me know how your experiance goes?
