Put eggs in the bator 9-9-12 anyone want to hatch along????? :0)

On 9/10 I put 5 bantam eggs under my broody silkie. She has only been laying an egg or two for 3 weeks now, so she is really young. She is doing well, one of the eggs were clear, so I removed it on Sunday morning, so only 4 are still going. Hopefully the rest hatch. Just a quick question, she is still in with the other chickens, and when she went out of the nest for water the other day, the others started harassing her, like she was new, while she have trouble coming back out of the nest in two weeks? I don't see why they are acting like it, two of them even layed eggs with her a couple of days ago. Thanks for any help. Can't wait for little babies.
I have had this problem before. My other chickens would pick on my girl who liked to go broody. It was almost like her going broody made them mad. I think they were irritated because, she wanted to sit in their favorite laying spot and all of them could of cared less about having babies. I ended up taking my broody momma between broody spells and putting her in with some smaller more gentle birds. She has been very happy ever since. So I have one big ole Splash Orpington that lives with my tiny Faverolles. LOL!!!!!!! It looks funny but, everyone is happy and no one messes with her if she goes broody cause, she is the big girl in the coop now. Good luck.

I just candled my eggs in the bator for the second time. I thought I had 9 growing, turns out I have 10!! YAY!!! Left the 4 blood rings in just in case (I thought that one was a blood ring), but took out all the ones that were a DEFINITE no.

I my babies are okay. My temp spiked to 102 degrees last night so I tried to turn the temp down. Well when I got up this morning the temp was 97 degrees.

I haven't had this happen before so I don't know what chance their is for my babies. Did I cook them?

I have noted in my second hatch to leave blood rings alone for a few days. I took one that had a very obvious blood ring and did an eggtopsy. It was alive. :(

I left one that was like that in the incubator after day 5. I candled again at day 10 and it was definitely alive and moving. Lesson learned! Some of those veins are placed in a weird position and can look like a blood ring.

How long was it at 102?

Do you have a thermometer in your incubator as well? I find my incubator shows a degree or two higher than it actually is.

Sadly, I am not sure. I turned the eggs at 2:00 PM and all was fine. When I went in to turn them at 9:00 PM they were at 102. So I really don't know how long the temp was like that. I am worried after I adjusted they might have been at 97 for a while because, I went to bed. I couldn't stay there and watch to see what happened with the temps cause, it would have made the hubby cranky. So I went to bed and hoped for the best.

I need to go and check it again, I hope things are stabilized now. I just don't understand, the temps have been completely stabilized at 100 since I put them in and then it did this out of no where.

Don't worry about the drop in temp. Mine were at 93 for an entire night because my cat sat on the incubator and changed the temperature. I'm glad he changed it down and not up. I saw him sitting on it too, and didn't bother to move him> I didn't imagine he could do that.
