Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Well I candled last night. I believe I have four quitters and I had already threw one away last week. I threw one of those away last night but, I kept the other three in just in case since they are such dark eggs. I figured I would rather be safe then sorry. I still have 4 that look like they might have a chance but, it is so hard to tell what is going on in these dark eggs. I haven't been able to make out any movement but, I am not really surprised with these eggs. The dark part still seems to be getting bigger so hopefully that is a good sign. This is such a hard hatch to do because, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if we get nothing. I had tried to hatch out some from this breeder before and nothing grew except one and that one didn't make it through hatch. With that hatch I put in eggs from 3 different breeders and in the end I had a 50% hatch rate. I put in 25 and ended up with 13 babies and one of those died shortly after hatch. Not to shabby for mailed eggs but, out of the ones that didn't hatch 9 of them were from this breeder. I am thinking maybe her babies have some kind of genetic defect or something that keeps them from making it to hatch. We love her eggs so we thought we would give it one more try. If we even get two I will be pleased. I would be happy with one but, I don't want a lonely baby.

If we don't get anything out of these I am not gonna try to hatch anymore of hers out. I guess it would be crazy to keep spending money for shipped eggs that don't hatch.

Anyway we go into lockdown on Wednesday. I guess I just have to wait and see what happens.

I've still got my 10 eggs a-grow'n in the bator! Lock down is Monday for me. The seller from my damaged shippment has decided to replace those eggs. They should be here by the end of the week. So more eggs in the bator this weekend!

he is replacing your eggs. Thats awesome.

I want to join in I am behind and virtually clueless but I am going to cadle and see if i see anything but I really don't know what to look for I don't even know the breed i have they are just chickens. I moved to the middle of the country and I thought that is what I was suppose to do is have chickens but they are alot of fun. I had to send one of my rooster off he was mean and was always trying to get me. But I have 10 eggs in the bator so we will wait nd see what happens.

My eggs are in lockdown as of last night. They should hatch Thursday and Friday. My hatches run later than early. I set the first batch on September 6th. Only one was questionable, and I stuck it in with the later batch. It was not ready to hatch if it is alive. No movement, so I'm thinking it's a quitter.

Well my eggs should be here tomorrow and will have them in the same bator as the ones due to hatch next week. I've done staggered hatches before in the same bator. I just removed some of the turning trays out of the ones that are in lock down. I haven't noticed yet that increasing the humidity for a couple of days really affects the ones not in lock down. Here's hoping for a good staggered hatch!
