Putting eggs in the bator on July 25, does anyone wanna hatch along???

Woot! The quails are hatching! I got up this morning and everything was the same as previous 24 hours, few pips and one crack. I had to leave the house for couple hours and when I got back had three baby quail! Within two more hours I had about 15 out.
This evening all but 15 of the 50 are out and so far only had one that didn't make it all the way out and had died already when I tried to help it. They are adorable, piles of tiny little striped chicks sleeping in the brooder. So exciting.
And ChickenTamer so sorry to hear about your chicks, so heartbreaking.

That is freaking hilarious. I think I would be telling my hubby to keep his little cat food hands out of my incubator!!!!

The chickies are mine and I am a protective chickie mommy. I asked someone else this but, I am gonna ask you too. Do you keep Quail as pets or do you use them to teach hunting dogs. I was told there is a certain kind of bird they use to train them because, the little ones will always come home. So I was wondering if they are pets or if they have a job.

K, thats sound great. That is nice of the breeder. I wish the breeder I got eggs from would at least offer the eggs for free with me paying shipping. With 0 out of 0 eggs from her hatching I kind of think she should but, she hasn't offered. I am waiting to hear from her and hoping maybe I will have some eggs in about a week in a half. I think I am gonna write her again, I need to know whats going on with that. I really got enough babies but, we really wanted some of those Birchen Maran/ Tolbunts so I can't help trying again. Well if don't mind as soon as I get those eggs I will hatch along with you and if anything hatches I will be happy.

I read on here ithink they are hard to hatch out.

Boy, I tell ya -- they all look like their daddy! I can't for the life of me pick out the one from the partridge rock. Very friendly, and fast! They can scoot across that cage at light speed!

This was hatchling #1 -- he runs over as soon as I come near :)

Eight more coming tomorrow from Meyer hatchery... what was I thinking? lol!
Oh Wow, they are sooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!

What did you order from Meyer? Ashenfire is gonna be doing another hatch and I am probably going to be in about a week and half. I want to try one more time for the Birchen Maran/ Tolbunts do you want to hatch along with us?

Your so funny aren't you the one that kept saying no more babies for now. LOL!!!!!!

YAY I will be happy to hatch with you (just holler when you get your eggies!) And to expand on the further hooligan issue, Booger (the single Serama) is not so much a holligan herself as she is VERY opinionated. :D Move her, she braces her legs and body like a little kid having a fit. Touch her food or water to fill it, it's ON! Screaming till things are back to *normal*. :D I think she is going to be a very alpha bird The world revolves around her, obviously ;)

too cute a little one with a BIG personality. The ones with big personalities are always my favorites.

Hee! No, I'd already added the ones I got today in before I said "no more!" Although I did have to slap my hands a few times to keep myself from ordering just one..more..breed, lol! The ones I got today were all hatched yesterday, so they're the same age as my hatchlings. (Day-old hatchlings, pre-sexed, are cheaper at Meyer than eggs -- at least if you don't have to have them shipped. Go figure!) However, seeing them next to my marans/rock mutts confirms what I suspected -- that was, for some reason, a VERY vigorous cross! My mutts are half again as big as the hatchery babies, even though their parents were both Meyer Hatchery stock. They're huge!

Gonna take some more pictures with today's babies, I'll post some later to show you. One speckled sussex, two australorps, two columbian wyandottes, two silver laced wyandottes, and one NH red roo to go with my five mutts :) It's going to be a pretty colorful flock!
