Got a few of my less-useful hens up on Craigslist for cheap. If I can clear out some room, maybe I'll set a few more!

What's the best way to try and fix splayed legs one of the quail is having issues with it we will hold it legs straight and put it down, it walls better for a few minutes then back to the belly

If you can use a tiny tiny strip of bandaid to make little hobbles that may help. Just wrap it around one little leg, leave enough room for it to move its legs, and wrap around the other

I'm not sure which hatcheries sell eggs, but you can find some good ones here on the forums in the for sale section. :D

I'd recommend Cuckoo Marans for one...I had one pullet who was sweet and gorgeous. Black australorp too...the one I have now which was bought to keep my single MGB baby company when she was hatched, is just adorable.

I have bought my eggs from BYC and Ebay both. Its fun to order and wide range of choice but You would probably get more hatch if you buy local and skip the shipping but everyone is different i have gotten at most 5 chicks from 12 to 15 eggs in 6 hatches and 2 hatches zero and one 1 chick although the zeros at least one was my fault i think as my humidity was set way too low.Local look at Craigs orEbay Classified for local.
.Seems ppl get about 80% hatch on eggs not shipped.
.I think what chicken breed is a really personal choice like a dog..just what you like.I lce Brahnas as they are big and calm & fluffy like big round balls and lavender orps because of their pretty colorsBarred Rocks for personalitys bantam or especially seramas for their tiny size.

Good Luck on all your choices! It will be fun!

I am chomping at the bit to set with you guys but have to get a routine test one day in the next few weeks and wont be home until night to monitor my humidity so am trying to restrain myself.Dont know if i can though.

Well depends on what your looking for. Are you wanting pets? Does egg size matter? Are you looking for a bird for mainly eggs or do you want one that will be good for eggs and meat? Thought I would ask before I made any suggestions. I have realized since I got chickens the reason you want them makes a big difference on what breed you should get.
