If its best for you not to hatch any right now you can always come and hang out with us if you want. We would love to see pics of your babies and they grow and talk to you. You don't have to have eggs in the bator to play.

I wouldn't be hatching anymore if I had gotten even one Birchen Maran/ Tolbunt. I haven't told my hubby yet that I have more coming.

Going to put some more quail in this next week and going to look into ordering some chicken eggs any one have any recommendations on a site Anne on any particular type of chicken. Right now I have two silkies seven Buff Orpington four Rhode island reds and two nannies one blue and black with silver lacing
I would probably go breeder not hatchery but, that is just me. When going with a breeder you can see pics of the actually parent stock and when going with a hatchery that isn't really an options. I know some people do like buying from hatchery but, just my 2 cents. Also ordering eggs by mail the hatch rate is lower but, I prefer getting eggs to buying birds because, I feel I have a chance to get more for my money.

Mt one baby chick loves the outdoors and does everything its mama does!!!! Every time the mama shakes the baby shakes and every time the mama drinks water the baby drinks water!!! Its soooooo funny

Do you mean the birchen Maran/ Tolbunts?
Well tolunts.. are their other beside the Maran/Tolbunts Just a Tolbunt? ?i dont know ANYTHING about them myself but someone i was speaking with a while back had trouble hatching her Tolbunts out. Said they were hard to hatchMaybe a Maran /Tolbunt is different.
.I dont know this from 20 ppl or anything just she said they were suppose to be hard to hatch and she wanted one badly.

What's the best way to try and fix splayed legs one of the quail is having issues with it we will hold it legs straight and put it down, it walls better for a few minutes then back to the belly
Can ask i ask a similar question or am i hijacking?Well opposite question

.My chick has his leg bentUNDER him I have put him in splints with a toothpick for a few days like a bar between his legs and tried pipecleaners and it allso cumbersome and hasnt done a lot to help... just a little while .Last night ihad him in pipcleaners and then he was falling over although it kept the bad foot under him...so i rigged up more pipe cleaners around gim like a stand looped around his body...hE looked like a downed batman and hated it still couldnt stand up and walk as they pipecleaners i think are weaker ones and caved in on the side then he ws flailing.. I cant put him to sleep...just cant face it... but as of now hes all alone but for hi mirror friend, i have to hand feed him or hold the bowl of food to his mouth and he only hops around the perimeter of the box leaning on the wall . I keep thinking there is a BETTER way to do this that will work!
But i dont know what. tSeems to be from his HIP down when i straighten it his poor hip is at a wierd angle but he can stand on both feet not one then just cant seem to make it permenent HE seems to be happ yonce hes on both feet but as frustated as i am with the all the dinkering with him.

Any IDEAS anyone??.

Maybe the baby won't be so lonely after all, it has its mama.

Hmmm, they might be hard to hatch out. The ones I am trying to hatch out are a Birchen Maran tolbunt cross. All I know is I put five of them in and not a single one hatched. I put other breeds in and had no problem. I think a few weren't fertile and one probably quit growing when I had my humidity drop and the last guy that made it to the end didn't make it through hatch. I did an egg topsy and it was just to big for the egg, there was no air sac because, the baby took up all the room. Well I am gonna try one more time and if I don't get any I guess I will give up unless I find another breeder with them. We will see.

Okay my little leg problem guy now has tape being used as a hobble, he/she can now sit up straight but of course is having trouble with walking but that's fine I'll check him in a couple days to see if it's helped, new news on the egg front. I did an assist hatch on my quail egg that got a crack in it just a couple days into incubation, he's doing good so far but a couple of his toes are curled, hopefully he can work it out still have four unhatched eggs one is two days late and three one day late

Unfortunately, I have had a few babies with bad legs. I have never been able to fix a leg. I kind question the fact that you can. I think some people think they are fixing a baby cause some of them are born with their legs kind of bent from being in eggs but, the legs sometimes just straighten on their own. I understand the need to want to fix it, well because been there done that. Since you want to try to fix it I would look up chick chair. If I can find it I will post it on here. I would follow their instructions and put a splint on it and put it in a chick chair. The three I tried to fix eventually died, I kind of think being separated from the others gets their spirits down and they end up starving to death because, as much as you hand feed them I think they just don't get enough. I also put it so they could eat on their own but, I think when they can't get around and interact with the other chicks they kind of give up. Now I did have one that after trying to put its slip its tendon back in with no luck that I just left alone. I let it live and hang out with the other chicks and it did fine. Of course it still has a wonky leg but, is alive and happy.

If I were you this is what I would do. I would put the little guy in a splint and keep it on for two day. Keep an eye on it to make sure its not to tight. I wouldn't take it off at all for two days. I would also put it in a chick chair for those two days to keep weight off the bad leg. Hand feed it and all that stuff maybe some sugar water for strength. I might also give it some vitamins because, leg problems are sometimes caused from a deficiency. After two days if the splint and chair hasn't worked I would take it out and just let it be. As long as it can hop its way to food and water I would put it back with the other babies. As I said I had that one that I put back with the others and it was perfectly happy as long as it was with the others and it lived. It would hop around to the food and water and to be with the others and once it got where it was going would sit down. I don't think it even knew it was different and it was happy. I will see if I can find the post about the splint and chick chair for you.

Good luck.
