putting them in the LG tomorrow want to join me?

I have 30 B/B/S/Lav/White Orp eggs from Tony that are on day 4. 4 Old English Bantams form my own flock on day 4 as well. I got 4 other of the Old English on day 1, and 5 Peacock eggs on day 2, then I got 10 Lav Orp eggs going in in 2 days. My incubators always got something hatching

I've been really lucky with the eggs from Tony so far, 29 out of 30 are developing from what I can see on day 3, the other one i couldn't tell cause the shell was very dark and porous. If your looking for B/B/S/Lav/White eggs Tony does an excellent packing job. I thinks its impossible for an egg to break with his packaging, unless the box it stepped on, etc.

I am doing my first ever incubating and I am also on Day 4. I put them in last Friday morning. I am using a Hova Bator still air. This is all very new to me. I have 18 eggs that are just mixed from my layer flock. There could be some BO's, BA's or BSL crossed with a mutt rooster that I have no idea what it is. So this could be interesting.

Welcome to the new arrivals! Glad to have more hatching buddies! Donna, I will candle Wednesday night. The eggs I set are brown, so I don't know how well I will see, but I candle again around day 10 or 12 and really know what is growing and what is not! I cannot believe you are getting another bator! You will be a hatchaholic before we know it

I think if I gave myself the opportunity, I might as well, but my lovely husband already balks at the amount of feed the animals go through! The pig is almost ready to go to the butcher so that will help, but I assume we will have more piglets soon too! Oh my, good thing we have 10 acres. I think I will need a bigger coop soon! Glad you are safe and have a plan for the next storm. I agree that kennels seem like a safe way to protect the dogs. Looking forward to hearing how candeling goes . . . and how many more eggs you set before these are even done!

Haha Autumn tooooo late i am addicted. I love my chickens!! i always thought they were stupid birds, they are not stupid they are loving and soft to pet. especially molly!!! my favorite hen is Maya though. When i walk up she is greeting me at the door. she wants to be petted and carted around last night she sat on my shoulder and even closed her eyes for a siesta.... (till she pooped on my back haha). I have decided to wear a special shirt when i have her on my shoulder in the future.

You are a much better woman than I Donna! I don't mind if they poop on me as a chick, but I don't think I would manage having an adult bird poop on my back . . . UGH!!! You crack me up! Your birds are so lucky to have you as their mommy! Have a great day and I hope the nasty weather passes by you today!

The sun is shinning right now!!! it is so very pretty outside. My first thought was to put my grown seramas our in their habitat, but the news said bad weather tonight, and they do seem happy enough on my kitchen counter, so I will wait.

Someone asked about candleing. This is what I did and remember this is my first go round with this. I have a bright flashlight, a dark room, an empty toilet paper roll. I put the flashlight in the toilet paper roll and the egg on top. I think it works ok for now. I candled at day 4, last night, and for now I am going with 12 that are growing and 6 maybe's. I know I will be able to tell more soon.

Thanks for sharing your candeling technique! I think it is a hard thing and the more you do it, the better you get at it. I usually just candle in a dark room with a small mag light from the top of the egg. But like I said previously, I am candeling brown eggs and it can be difficult. I am on the side of if in doubt, keep it a little longer. By day 12 or 14, there is usually no question at all! Good luck on your hatch!
