putting them in the LG tomorrow want to join me?

Donna, I haven't pulled any other than the one I broke

but I know I have 4 that are clear and will pull them on day 12 or so. I haven't even looked into the lock down day:) I know that I have had them in for one full week now, next Saturday will be 2 full weeks and then maybe the following Wednesday morning? Not sure if that is right or not. I will have to look better when the day gets closer. Sorry about Maya's eggs being infertile. It could just be her body figuring everything out. Are you sure your roo is "doing the deed"? I know that is dumb but just checking! I also know I have seen where some types of roos and/or hens get trims to better get the business handled

Not sure about all that business, but I know I have read about it. Have a blessed Sunday everyone! We are off to church in the morning and then I have to be at a carwash for our Jr. High Cheer Squad!

Hi Everyone,
I set eggs the 26th so am a little behind but would like to follow the thread............................
I am a Dipsy cutomer also was delighted with the results of the hatching eggs........\\BBS Amracaunas (sp) and one beautiful blue barred EE.
Set Serama and a few mixed from my layer flock...
Have been having a horrible time lately..Don't know if it is me or the eggs are getting really beat up in transit.
That is why I am running this batch from my own stock.
The sellers, with the exception of one, has done a great job of packing. My last hatch I recieved eggs from two different auctions.
Mail time great, packing great, I did everything I have always done and had 0 hatch from 40 eggs..........
Oh, I did not mention that even though these eggs were double noxed and really packed well, There were broken eggs that had spilled onto several good eggs.
That part was definatley the PO............THe eggs were broken on the same side in each box.
So dishearting.
Anyway, good luck everyone,
Toni

My lockdown date should be June 7th, that is if I have any to lock down. This is my first go round and I am discovering the joys of still air. It is taking me a little bit to figure this all out. Today I am having temp spikes. I know it is just a matter of fine tuning it all. These are just my own eggs so if they don't go I will try another batch.

every one of my own eggs were clear. only the ones I got from Lisa are mostly fertile. I am thinking of taking murray out of the cage and just leaving the 2 pullets with maurice, i wonder it that will help

Hugs to autumn Donna

Donna, so do you have two roos and two hens in the pen? That might very well be your problem. They may be spending too much time keeping each other off the hens than taking care of business. Lisa would know best, but I would agree with you. harley jo, I too had a few temp spikes in mine last hatch (I do have a fan though), and out of the 8 I put in lock down I hatched out 7. Not too bad!

Have a great Memorial Day all you crazy chicken folks

yes i do have 2 roos in the same , but they do not fight at all. Molly can be a little mean to the roos though. should i take one out if they are not fighting?

Hugs Donna

Donna, even if they aren't fighting, they might not be allowing the other to mate . . . not by fighting, but just by getting in the way. I think I have read that one roo to 8-10 hens is the appropriate amount, but again, Lisa would give you much better advice. Good luck. I know you really want to hatch your own eggs and I know you will someday soon!
