LOL I won't be putting them up *quite* yet, but I am going to start collecting the things I need.

Thanks for the compliment :-)

This is my first time hosting Thanksgiving for my family, 20+ people for a formal dinner. Talk about panic.

LOL, my son's mini tree is already up in his room, we put that up almost 2 weeks ago....I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! I love the lights, and the cold weather, and the christmas section at wal mart. I love getting my brothers and sisters gifts and giving them Christmases we never had as children. Now I gotta tell a story

Last Christmas my mom didn't have ANY money, not even enough to get a Christmas tree. My grandma sent $20 for each child, and they all knew about it so I told them they could either take the $20 or I could get them a Christmas present. All of them wanted the money except my baby brother, whose birthday is on Christmas. He wanted a present. Anyways, what none of them knew was that we had a tree and a TON of presents for all of them. Christmas Eve we waited for them all to go to sleep, then we went to my mom's house and set everything up.

Christmas morning they all woke up, and my 12 and 16 yr old sisters and my 18 yr old brothher came out an saw everything. My brother (he was turning 14) got up like any other day and took a shower. He had no idea. He got out and went into his room to get dressed, still oblivious to everything. When he finally came out his face lit up, and he had a big ol dopey grin all over it. It was an awesome Christmas. We never had much growing up, and it was amazing to finally see them all have the whole living room stuffed full, to go to sleep with nothing and to wake up to a whole Christmas-y house....yeah, it was a good Christmas....

This year is going to be tight for many people. I think it's a good time to teach our kids that Christmas isn't just about getting presents. We have already been explaining to our three that they are only to ask Santa for one special gift each this year. Anything that gets given to family members will be home made.

It is so fun to give without expectations, I bet it was a wonderful Christmas and going to be a great memory for them also.

PBP I have found the tightest Christmas's for us have been the most memorable. Home made quilts, dolls etc.

ok now y'all are making me want to put up my lights and decorations!!!!!!
i think imma gonna!!!! i LOVE LOVE christmas!!!!

I have been so tempted to get my decorations out!

I don't have many, and am going to have to move furniture to make room for my tree.

We usually have a tradition around here of putting up our tree after thanksgiving dinner, so i may wait on the tree....But, we have a tree in my living room downstairs and then another tree in the living room upstairs.....so, maybe I can put mine up anyway, LOL!

Yup, a couple other people were posting about ladders on ice. That is exactly why I put my lights up so early. There is no way I'm climbing on a ladder to put up lights in our driveway when it's snowy; it's not flat as it is and I'd probably cruise down into the street on the ladder if the driveway was icy. Hee hee. I live in Michigan and if we did have snow already I wouldn't be surprised.

I have to have multicolored lights because I like the way they look against the snow. I don't have blinking ones, though, because I think the neighbors would probably kill me.

PineBurrow, your house is gorgeous! I suggest putting one of those candle lights in every window and a big evergreen wreath with natural accents (like berries) on your front door.
