I dont think I have ever heard of anyone having or trying to create Wheaton Wyandottes. As for a true Red Pyle in Wyandottes the creation of BB Reds would be the key. I have read about it some and debated the possibility of it but already have enough projects to work on at the moment. If I remember correctly you would need to cross Partridge with Black and then breed for color because the type would already be there being that both of those varieties generally have very good type to begin with. In theory the black would dilute the pencilling of the females to a certain degree and just have to work from there.... I would imagine it would be a long term project. Only other option I could think of would be to cross them with a Rose Comb Brown Leghorn but yet you would lose greatly when it came to type also. But the rose comb and the yellow legs would be a good starting point.
Yes I do have WLR bantams. Only two of them, the last survivors of my former flock. They are a recovery project and hopefully in 3-5 years I will have them back to where they were and should be. I wish I knew of anyone else that had them. The only person I knew that had them, the man I obtained them from went out of the chicken business. I sincerely hope my two arent the last of this breed, they truly are gorgeous.
