Pyle Wyandottes

austin.ray22 :

I would be anxious to see the total price tag it would take to make that happen.

HAHA me too, though most of the colors will involve out crossing, encorepistol and I are trying to work on mottleds, and at some point I plan to work on Mille Fleurs and probably Dun laced Reds too and gillions of others.

Mottled have always been a variety I would like to see.
Mille Fleur I think might best be created by crossing Mille Fleur D'Anvers(rose comb) with in my mind the best choice would be Buff but not sure.
Ray, I am sure it would be a small fortune to say the least just to create a couple of those varieties.
One other variety I forgot to mention. Silver Spangled Wyandottes. I read a very old article written by a breeder who created SS Wyandotte LF about a 100 years ago. Very detailed article and very informative to say the least. If I remember correctly it took him 8-9 generations to get to where he wanted to be. Would definetely be interesting to see that color pattern on a Wyandotte.

I did create Dun Laced Gold and raised very few of them for about 4 years I guess.
I will attach a pic of the male I raised, not a great pic but you can see the dun coloration of him. The two hens are in the background but cant see them well. Was a really gorgeous color though.

Yep those are some nice looking birds.

For the Mille Fleurs, it would be best to cross a Mille Fleur colored breed with a Buff Columbian or Light Columbian, since mille fleur is mottled Buff Columbian. But Tolbunts would be really cool too.

What all varieties do you still have and are working with now WyandotteTX ?

I think I remember seeing a thread about Tolbunt Wyandottes on here some time back and it had the basis of how to start the project as well.

Right now I am just working on WLR and SP currently. Also raising a few Duns and Barreds at the moment.
Will be working on a LF Dun project this fall.
I have some young GL, Partridge and Columbians also. Debating on whether or not I want to start a Birchen project this fall. Being that I have GL and Dun also I may try and recreate my Dun Laced Gold.
Most likely will be obtaining some BLRs and some SL this fall to add to the menagerie. Will have to wait and see how much room I have to work with.

I can tell you the reason I have chosen Wyandotte bantams be to be the only bantam breed that I really plan to raise is becuase I wanted to pic a bantam breed that had a largefowl counterpart and that the bantam breed its self would be large enough to produce decent sized eggs, and some of the bantam wyandotte eggs I have had shipped to me are as big as some of my largefowl breeds. I also wanted a breed that I could have lots of color variations of one breed and with most Wyandottes being columbian based, that makes for endless possibilities of colors. And I just like their plump roundness and looks in general. I will probably have a few LF Wyandotte Varieties but my main LF breeds will be both standard and non standard project colors of Sussex, non standard colors of Orpingtons, and a few old american heritage breeds.

I can definitely agree with that reasoning. I have yet to have any in the bantam varitey but will consider it after some on the ideas on this thread. I too am interested in the Sussex, but only have two trios of Splits at this point, but hope to expand on these over the near future.

I always liked the refinedness of the bantams more than the LF. OF course the obvious reasons are space and feed. LF birds in any amount will eat ALOT of feed. You can raise a 100 bantams in the space and with the amount of feed it takes for 20 LF.

So which breeds are dominant white and which are recessive white.
I think I've heard that White LEghorns are based on dominant white.

What about these?
White Plymouth Rock
White Polish
White Wyandotte
White Cochin
White Chantecler
