Pyxis' Emu Chat Thread

Forgive me if you’ve already been asked this, I haven’t read through the thread.
How do your emus handle winter?
Are extreme temps(-F) a problem for them?

They've been fine with winter the whole time I've had them. I can't remember the coldest we've gotten since I hatched them, but I'm sure it's gotten down at least into the negative teens and they've been okay.

Had to pull egg B. It was starting to stink. There's a patch where the shell didn't fully form the last layer, so I suspect bacteria got in there.

Tentatively thinking about asking the seller to replace it, since it was sent that way and I'm 95% sure that's the reason this happened. I've had some that haven't started before and they went all the way through incubation without stinking.

Worth a shot if you're polite about it

That’s good to hear:)
I have emu fever bad. Haha. They are on my future want list.

Sorry one of your eggs was bad:/ Doesn’t hurt to ask the seller about a replacement. I know if I was in the sellers shoes I would replace it. Those eggs are expensive to be sent one that was ify from the start.
