Hello! I’m new to byc and I’m picking up a pair of emu chicks next weekend. I remember seeing a recommendation for a book or two in this thread when I was researching emu, but I never got around to buying it and now that I have officially bought my emu, I want to read and study as much as possible over the next week to make sure I’m as prepared as I can be. I couldn’t find the book recommendation after looking in this thread for a few minutes, so could anyone tell me what book was mentioned earlier and also any other good books or articles to read about raising emu? Thank you!

Haphazard as always, readers.

So, LimpyChick, the resident adult (female) was here at dawn.

Tooshtoosh’s four ‘chicks’ were here.

Two or there wild birds, including a cheeky vocalizing male, were here.

Standard pandemonium ensued. Tame-wild and wild emus young and old charging around the house-clearing.

Then, for what every reason, spazzy dance broke out. I got three short clips, but only two will load.

Next. Same morning. The chicks forage for figs, grapes, pears, apricots, and plums around the garden. The clip shows a chick that has enthusiastically ventured into the fig tree.

The 'chicks' in the bottom photo are a couple of months older (and one is the Dad of the chicks bathing).
I'm increasingly sure that emus aren't 'socially mature' until their third year. These two clutches, at 15-18 months, have unlimited space; but they're still both happy to sit and bathe as a clutch
