You let the eggs cool down for about five minutes, then compare each end. If there's a chick, the air cell end will cool down, but the end with a chick in it will stay warm.

I redid the heat test on A this morning and it passed The heat was a bit fainter to feel than on the other eggs, so that's probably why it was harder to tell before. I'm betting the egg has a thicker shell.
