I think you have them set they can be out of wind and weather and being in Texas they should be fine. My Runners love the rain even cold rain doesn’t bother them the snow was a bit much but they decided on their own when to go inside their house to get out of it and when to come out . Yours will do just fine.Will you be puttiing up fencing so they can come out and forage one of these days?

Absolutely. Whilst I was building by my duck house, I was also working on constructing a garden. I’m still working on the garden though. Eventually both will have a picket fence surrounding the whole bit with a partition between the duck area and the garden. This way I can let the ducks into the garden or keep them out.

Here is a picture: on the far right I’m still finishing up the valve boxes for the plumbing to be able to turn on or off whichever bed. The rain unfortunately is slowing me down. Once done I will finish with the substrate on that side, clear out beds, fill with soil and compost, and then mulch.

But one step at a time. Eventually...there will be a picket fence..
