Quackers isnt herself

I’ll get some liquid calcium tomorrow,
Were you able to get the calcium gluconate like @CayugaJana suggested? This type of calcium is absorbed better than the other types and it is what most vets will give them when they need calcium. I use 0.2 ml per pound orally or by injection in emergencies.

If you can't find the calcium gluconate at your feed store, go to a pharmacy look for calcium citrate.

If you can't get either of the above you can use calcium carbonate.

If you decide to use Tums, read the label! Some Tums are 500 mg, some are 750 mg, some are 1000 mg, some contain something to relieve gas, and some are artificially sweetened. Do not use Tums with Gas Relief or sugar-free Tums because I do not know if they are safe for birds.

The calcium dose I use when using any of the above is ~50 mg per pound of body weight once or twice a day.

I’m just worried because she won’t touch any food. Drinking tho...
Don't worry about her not eating because all she really needs right now is water and calcium.

Is she pooping?

Edited to add:
If a trip to the vet is possible then I suggest you take her there. A vet will be able to give her fluids and other drugs that may help her pass the egg.

Thank you @CayugaJana and @casportpony for writing back!
Quackers was able to pass an egg early this morning, it was pretty gross with a long white tail thingy

She continued to sit on her nest for 2 hours, not eating etc, until I went to Walmart at 7am and bought her 2 containers of night crawlers, which she ate!!

I just got home from Tractor Trailer with the calcium gluconate and I dosed her with an eye dropper.

She seems a bit perkier, and is still drinking. Just now she’s slowly walking around with Cheese and poking the grass. She is pooping, although it doesn’t have much in it.

I’ve also put powdered chelated electrolytes in her water and dosed her with turmeric mixed with a vegetarian protein shake.

How often should I give her the calcium?

Thanks so much for your help, I couldn’t sleep last night worrying about her. ❤️

Great, glad you were able to get some. Store in the refrigerator otherwise it will grow mold.

They can be a little slow to bounce back. Seems aging those softies really drains them.

Glad you got her to eat something.

Great! Just in case she doesn't like electrolyte water you might want to have another waterer with plain water.

I usually give it for a few days past them laying a softy. @CayugaJana, what do you do?

Thanks so much for your help, I couldn’t sleep last night worrying about her. ❤️
You're welcome! Glad she's doing better. :hugs

You do feel bad for them. It’s has to be so miserable for them.

Yes. At the time I didn’t know about the calcium gluconate so I confined her in a small pen with her oyster shell for several days. For some reason she was a new layer and ignored the oyster shells until then. She hasn’t had a problem since then. I’m glad she’s feeling better. That thing looks painful.
