Thr hubs bought some quail for training our hunting pup. I have them in a coop and they have gamebird feed. But they are adult females and not laying. I’m curious if their laying season is over or if they are like my ducks and quit laying when they are stressed? I’d like to incubate some eggs if possible but have only incubated ducks so far.

Are they Bobwhites or Coturnix? What % protein is the gamebird feed? You have females, do you have males too?
I’m pretty sure they are Coturnix, one female has a pretty red look to her. They don’t make the bob white sound so I don’t think they are. But I’m no expert. The protein is 30%. My husband did just tell me that they are 6-7 weeks old after I posted so that could be the reason they aren’t laying. There are 4 females and 1 male.

You MUST hatch quail. At least once.

Those are just darling! Are they pretty easy to hatch?

I think so, but I have only hatched them one time so far.
I plan on becoming an expert quail hatcher here soon.

Post some pics of yours.
I'd like to try to (guess) sex them.

They are flighty little things. This is the best picture I could get without scaring them into flying into the ceiling. What I think is the male is behind the red one. He has a lot more white on his head.
