I was wondering if and body had advice on building a quail coop. I want it to be very simple this is my first time having quail please post pictures if you have any.

The only advice...is they need 1 square foot per bird, should be predator proof and sheltered. Search for the thread, "Ground verses Wire" and there are tons of pics and great examples for housing.

Good luck!

I just made a rabbit hutch with wooden stakes nailed to the bottom.. There is a (very heavy!) tray on the very bottom to catch the poo. it was originally meant for eggs, but they have taken to laying in their boxes, to my relief. You should NOT, absolutely not make the bottom wire. My hutch does not have a square foot for each quail, but i put them on the ground into an appropriate-sized cage everyday.Wire-bottomed cages are not for quail. their feet are for solid floors, not for grappling.

ya, i do. Oh, and the spaces between the stakes can be smaller. Like i said, eggs were meant to fall through.

I cover the hutch with the sesame street blanket on top.

It kinda dirty, but they dont mind.REmenber, they have to have some spaces where they can stand, like that blue thing(its long) I just took the pictures, and i'll change the water right now.see that white thing, underneath the stakes? that's the tray.

I am posting some pictures of my happy quail in their ground cage.

the bottom is not wired.

i got this guy along with the others. he has a curved neck, but he's got his own way of seeing things.. his name is Myro.Hey, i want to know, does anyone have quail that are molting? mine are. there's this one that i call Vulture, and his neck feathers are finally coming through.

Ok thanks for the pictures I might just try to make a completely solid floor with pine shavings on it for easier cleaning. Thank you for posting the pictures of your coop it look nice. I will probaly make some
Sort of grass pen for them too so they can eat some fresh bugs and worms.
