And also she does something weird she's never done before. She goes under my desk and starts scratching the carpet nervously(?) while chirping loudly.

I don't know much about birds yet, but it seems like I learn something new every day...I haven't seen improvement so far, but I hope she'll get better soon.
Could it be something else?If this is a yeast infection you might not see any improvement for at least a week. Overall yeast infections can take months to heal however. But why she even has a yeast infection at her age is puzzling. Usually yeast gets those with weak immune systems or something internally isn't functioning properly and yeast is a secondary infection. Since we have no access to blood work or scanning equipment, we can only try the most common applications to try and figure this out.

Thank you. I asked because she shows only one symptom, which is excessive drinking. Nothing else. She eats normally as well. I was thinking it is because she ate something poisonous and she's trying to help herself. That's what makes this difficult to diagnose, it could be some genetic issue or disease, she could have some organ dysfunction, we don't know. Worms and Coccidiosis have been addressed, yeast is quite common in birds, she could have a bacterial infection. We can only fix the simple issues. The Apple Cider Vinegar will help with both yeast and bacteria. If we were sure it was bacterial, I might suggest Amoxicillin or possibly Acidified Copper Sulfate. Copper will clean out yeasts and bacteria from the beak to the vent. You will have to order the Copper on line. I always keep Copper on hand, it kills off sour crops, vent gleet (intestinal yeast infections) e.coli, other bacteria, even some species of Coccidiosis and Canker.
If you want to go this route, you can order it from here, they ship usually same day. https://www.twincitypoultrysupplies.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=340
Always use Copper formulated for poultry only.

Well thank you so much!I think the reason she is gorging on sand is because they don't have sand in the cage (the cage is pretty small, just about enough for two quails) and I take them out and put them in a plastic box which has sand in it. Maybe I should cut a hole in it so she can go whenever she wants. And I'm glad that scratching thing isn't a problem. I thought she was in some kind of pain. Every time she does that, she takes a poop afterwards.
Okay, I'll definitely put the sand in another box and cut a hole in it so they have access to it almost all day.If they only have access to sand once a day, she may appear to be eating a lot of it.You might try your suggestion and see if that helps.
The scratching thing sounds like egg laying broody stuff, as if she is preparing to create a nest.![]()
