Quail eggs not hatching?

I have been doing a science project that involves me hatching some quail eggs, I did my research in incubating my quails and have a brooder set up for when they hatch. When I received my eggs the postal service had damaged 1/3 of my eggs visibly and may have done other damage to the rest. It is day 17/18 for them and last week checking on my eggs I had 17 but yesterday it said I had 12. I am worried that they might not hatch or that I may need to restart my project. I know they can take up to 21 days but I am increasingly concerned that I may be doing wrong or not noticing something?

Welcome to BYC! What was saying there were only 12? are you trying to candle?

Yes, I was candeling with an LED light because I did not buy a proper candle light. It said I had 12 the most recently.

I would give them a little while. If your temps are off they can take a bit longer to hatch. Hopefully you will have pips soon, good luck

Thanks! As of today 2 have begun hatching from their shells... Hopefully I was just off on my calculations!
