Quail Genetic Guessing (part 2)

I’m not positive, so don’t hate me if I’m wrong, these are my first sparklies, but I think these are sparkly:

They’re only a week and a half old, and as I said I never had them before. But I think the sparklies have a lot of barring with bright coloring in between.
Oooo! Thanks for sharing! I have been trying hard to figure out exactly how sparkly coloring differs, this is pretty! I'm glad that you piped in on the colors above, as I am still new and learning! :)

Looking at cookie, time will tell. He might be from the German pastel line, and could be a lavender or a Blau?(sp) I have some in my current group that are not from the silver collection, and have a more creamy beige tone with the gray than the silvers do.

It’s hard with the current feathering but I think cookie is a boy that is a silver Egyptian, so silver and roux with wild pattern. But once they’re more evenly feathered we can probably tell more easily. The other 2 are pharaohs (wild types) there is a lot of variety in what some think of as “plain old” wild. It’s not as cut and dry as people think. Some will have more brown, some more black. Especially in mixed flocks where range patterns get crossed in and out, you’ll have pharaohs that favor Rosetta and rosettas that favor pharaoh. As for gender the first is a girl, the other 2 look to be boys.
Yeah I definitely know Dot is a lady, she's the only antisocial one out of the bunch haha a real prima donna. I'm certainly hoping and thinking that Rocky is a boy too, but Cookie I'm not willing to guess until I figure out what they are. Do you know when they can be vent sexed?

Usually if they are getting 14+ hours of light, you can vent sex at 6-8 weeks for males. They’ll start producing foam earlier than hens start laying.

Cookie is certainly a wild pattern, it’s just the color that’s up in the air. The only thing in the way of gendering cookie is the unusual feather growth, but I feel pretty confident it’s a male.

Oh wow, I see what you mean. They very well could be a German Pastel, this is the closest match to a colour I've seen of them yet! (Image from godfatherquailfarm.com) Now if only they'd grow their head feathers in already... I'm very excited to find out. I think I'll miss their little chick faces when they're gone though haha.

Ahh, I must have Dot and Rocky mixed up! :) Sorry about that!
