Quail hatch. Follow along.

Hey everyone! I am a little worried about my baby quail. They were fine until I started noticing that they were all wiping their beak side to side against pine shavings, the floor, and their food. I never noticed this when I raised Coturnix quail. Is this normal if not what is it and how can I treat it? Help would be very much appreciated. @Nabiki
Is there any kind of irritant that you can find? No cedar shavings mixed in, or something particularly dusty? Do they have enough water? I've found that parakeet waterers work very well for quail chicks. They can drink from them without getting into them.

How stable is that waterer for sitting on a piece of tile in the floor of the brooder? I use a tote, so wouldn't have anywhere to hang it.

It isn't unusual, they are just cleaning their beaks....and at the age...'monkey see, monkey do!' 😂

Thank you for the response. I checked and there is no irritants. I belive i was just overthinking it and they were just cleaning their beaks. I will look into that waterer.

Today is day 5 in the brooder for the first batch, day 19 in the incubator for the second batch, and day 12 in the incubator for the third batch. I cabdled again today and only 1 egg was bad the rest all had movment. That leaves 21 eggs still in the incubator. The chicks are amazingly cute. Will send the pics in a bit

Hey everyone! I noticed that one of my chics was squinting one eye and leaving the other open. Any ideas on what is going on? He is the only one. ill try to take a picture.
