Quail hatch. Follow along.

Following!! Now I really want quail! 🤣

I read through all the posts in this thread so I could be completely up to date in the whole process.

Wow! You can’t ask for a better hatch than that… 100%! Incredible! I’ve never had such success.

It was not bad for you to ask for new eggs from the hatchery since your original ones were cracked, however for future reference, if you have extra space in your incubator, many times you can seal the cracks with candle wax and they will hatch just fine!

I don’t think that keeping all of the babies together in a single brooder is a bad idea. In fact, it would probably be much easier for you! I would keep them separated for first day or two until the newest ones are strong enough to run around and keep up with the others, but an age gap of a couple weeks is not too far IMO. Besides, integrating at this age is much, much easier than when they’re older, especially if they’re fully grown. As long as there is plenty of space in the brooder, I think that keeping them together would be fine, but it’s your choice. Keeping them separated also wouldn’t hurt them. :)

It makes my day when someone else finds interest in this thread. Thank you so much for the suggestions. I hope you continue to enjoy this quail journey :)

Today is day 3 in the brooder for the first batch, day 17 in the incubator for the 2nd batch, and day 10 in the incubator for the third batch. Everything is going great! Some of the quail follow me around and let me pick them up. I'll send pics in a bit of some of the more unique quail so you all can name them.

Today is day 18 in the incubator for the second batch, day 11 for the third batch and day 4 in the brooder for the first batch. They are as cute as ever. All the eggs are doing good. I will send the pics today, I got busy yesterday and forgot to send pics of the birds.

Hey, @Mallards and Quail, this thread has got me hooked on quail! 🤣 I am thinking about getting some of my own, and I was wondering where you got your quail egg turner? I have a Nurture Right 360 as well, and I might like to get a turner like the one you have…

I looked back through the pics you posted, and it looks like the tuner is from the Incubator Warehouse…is that true?

I have another question: Where did you buy your eggs?

And one last thing (I think), were they all able to hatch okay even with the turner still in there?

@CloverTheRabbit Yes. I got the turner from Amazon I think it holds 47-48 eggs. I bought the eggs from murray mcmurray. They have an assortment of gambels, valleys, scaled, bobs, tenesse reds and courtnix quail eggs. They all hatched just fine with the turner still in the incubator. I'm glad you are finding quail interesting:)

Hey everyone! I am a little worried about my baby quail. They were fine until I started noticing that they were all wiping their beak side to side against pine shavings, the floor, and their food. I never noticed this when I raised Coturnix quail. Is this normal if not what is it and how can I treat it? Help would be very much appreciated. @Nabiki
